    Help with mixing orchestral cymbals

One tip: Use references and then you will hear that they often have to much of body and lowend. and often they occupy too much of stereo width. Don´t forget that these cymbals and crashes are not recorded with an orchestra but in an empty scoring stage which is missing absorbers and many more...

An Incandascence Of the Dark Lord

Good question..the recipe..well let me try to answer that: As an Amp I use a EVH 5150 III profile on my Kemper Amp. Bass Amp is an Ampeg SVT Blueline. Guitar is a Jackson Randy Rhoads Custom (Seymour Duncan Bridge Pickup) Bass Guitar is Ibanez BTB 06 LTD with active pickups, I think they are...

An Incandascence Of the Dark Lord

Ok, I have the lyrics, but its all hand written yet, so probably later after the album is finished part of the booklet then. No logo, not even a name. I think I concentrate first just writing material... Hej Hanu, Good points, though I already lowcutted some things on the guitars and also...

An Incandascence Of the Dark Lord

Hey Martin, So I didn´t know you are planning to write an album as well. Very cool man! Once you have something shoot me a pm, would be interested to take a listen. These lyrics though they seem to fall into bm tropes are definitely not at all like that. They are more a warning or at least...

    Need string library advice

Look, actually yesterday I created a new custom patch out of OT libraries which sounds like that: Strings don´t do that out of the box, so its up to every single one to think different. I love BWW..great...

    Need string library advice

Well, just my opinion of course and I may not be right, so there are different opinions. I mean if others like to buy all the time new stuff, no problem with that. I always check out new libraries as well, but I encounter that spending a lot of time with one library for a couple of years lets...

    MSB or CSB? Please vote.

I don´t have MSB but I listened to a lot of demos and in the end, I find CSB that has a bit more of a lively sound and more 3d projection. For my personal taste MSB was having a few instruments which sounded good like the French Horns and the Tuba, but overall I prefer the sound of CSB.

    Budget Woodwinds Shootout!

Then (imho) you are doing something not quite right (I am speaking of BWW)..either you are not orchestrating for winds in a way "how its done" (study wind tip) to bring out their strenghts and idiomatic orchestration types for woodwinds , or its some balancing issues in your...

    Budget Woodwinds Shootout!

They are no budget library by any means but I simply love the legacy Berlin Woodwinds. There is no perfect woodwind library for sure, though imo opinion they do a lot of things pretty pretty well and you can customize them quite a lot. For me personally one of the best winds out there still...

EQ curves folks use on CSS (and CSSS)?

I have css too, 12k is fine, not so narrow, you can also use a highshelf with a gentle q, so literally that it looks a bit like a ramp. Also what might help is using a good saturation (e.g.UADs Oxide and Studer A800). I push frequenices often with the Manley passive on strings, that thing just...

    Spitfire Bespoke private range libraries

I am sorry, I appreciate the fact you grab those old examples for demonstration and maybe my ears are totally impaired by the long working day in the studio but if that are "sampled" patches from the that bespoke ranges I am the great cornholio and need some tp for my bungholio. Faster String Runs Library to complement CSS

Depends on the runs and all in between depending on tempo and notation..I use to approximate a few of them with 3 different types of settings: 1. Articulated runs 2. Blurred / Smeared runs 3. Almost gliss like 1. In that case bowing each note means you have to hear those articulations quite...

    James Bond Style Brass

Well let´s not forget that this is a piece performed by the best players out there and written in a way and a style that it makes it very hard if not impossible to pull it of that convincingly with sampled instruments. If you want that sort of sound nailed, I am afraid you better hire some...

    Spitfire Appreciation Thread

My favourite Spitfire libraries is the Symphonic Orchestra range so far, and I like the old Albion a lot. The brass sounds so nice and british oldschool there. Hans Zimmer Strings vs. Spitfire Chamber Strings

You can´t find it because they are two very different products serving to very different musical styles and purposes, so there is no discussion big on comparing these 2 contendors! Hope that is clear now. And Sean is right. So: HZS = Big Sections with no classic Orchestra seating SCS = Small...

    Spitfire Studio Brass

Agreed here. I remember Aaron who did the Infinite Brass got a lot of feedback and there were quite some issues coming from the buyers and it was remarkable that he within of 3 month released 2 updates to iron out the problems. That is very commendable in my opinion and it shows attitude not...

    Spitfire Studio Brass

Yes all good points, and they are priced for lets say "old" SFA standards very low, which is on the one side great that it gives also hobbyists the opportunity to make music with orchestral libraries.(so more are buying it). And the market is very competitive these days. Just for my personal...

    Spitfire Studio Brass

Probably its simply that spitfire released too many libraries these days.
