How much is a Conductor in London for a 3-hour session?

Factoring a base rate for an orchestral player at approx £250-£300 per 2 hr session. a session conductor would expect 1.5 to 2 times that.

Sample Free Mockup of The Planets -Mercury by Gustav Holst

Here's my mockup of Gustav Holst's Mercury from the Planets. This was commissioned by Audio Modeling. I've also made a video on my process (Making Mercury) for creating large instrumental sections with modeled instruments. That's on Audio Modeling's Youtube channel.

Mocking up Holst's The Planets - Creating instrumental ensembles with SWAM Engine instruments

Hello I'd just like to share some recent work I did for Audio Modeling. It's a walk through of my process for mocking up Mercury, The Winged Messenger, from The Planets, by Gustav Holst. This is my first ever video tutorial - so please bear with - they will get better I promise. You can...

The Audio Modeling SWAM String Orchestra

Thanks With sampled instruments, layering several solo instruments is not a particularly successful way to make a convincing ensemble. At most you’re varying intonation, staggering envelopes and dynamic layers... Which is why you have sampled ensembles. The major plus of a which is...

Yes the original. I’d say go for the extra control, you never know, you could map it to something useful. The BC is my cc11 expr controller the Leap does everything else. Doing cc11 with a Leap never worked for me. Midi expression is the most complex input and best done with a BC. If you’re...

Just a re-reply since I’m back here. I’m now just tracking a few instances and doing a midi transform which varies the controller and note data ever so slightly. I’m also working on scripting the execution of all these transforms. I’ll do a video with more specifics soon.

This is a music video for the SWAM Violin demo I did a while back. It's an improvised Cadenza for an imaginary concerto.

My process for building realistic instrumental sections with SWAM and Sample Modeling instruments.

Hello. Yes that’s how my Escapades mock-up happened. I copied and pasted midi note data which I randomised using Logic’s midi transform, and then Re performed all the controller data for every track. Much faster than playing everything multiple times.

only on the strings. My machine can pull the rest by itself. It's a 2010 "Cheese-grater" Westmere 12 core Mac Pro with 64 Gigs of RAM. The system runs off a M.2 drive on one of the PCIE slots.

The one thing I didn't add to my whole spiel (and it's an important one) is that I do massive EQ on every modeled section to get the tone I want. Once this is sorted you don't really need the sampled backup I would think. The best approach would be to match eq with your favorite sample library...

My process for building realistic instrumental sections with SWAM and Sample Modeling instruments.

My main problem with sampled orchestras is that they are rhythmically not as tight as real players, Rohan - you're absolutely right. They have no way of knowing how much bow to use for a sampled 'short' so they tend to average it out. Hence you never get it as short as you need. With the...

My process for building realistic instrumental sections with SWAM and Sample Modeling instruments.

I haven’t seen much chat here on using SWAM or Sample Modeling instruments in sections, and thought i’d pipe in with my process for anyone who might find it interesting. Over the last couple of months I’ve evolved my orchestral template away from sampled instruments to modeled instruments by...

The Audio Modeling SWAM String Orchestra

Good point - I suspect the genius types at SWAM are already thinking about this. There's one big hurdle though, an AU would need to post process a midi performanceand I'm not sure this is possible (Yet). I could be wrong. What I mean is, for example: a real ensemble doesn't act like a single...

:) surprising, but not long. A couple of hours for tracking and mix. My orchestral template it now all SWAM / SM so everything is set up, ready to go. That said It took me a while to get my mix and figure out how to get the staging. My template was tweaked over the course of many projects over...
