    Hardware Compressor Ringing/ Buzzing

I also get this high ringin/buzzing noise sometimes with my babyface. Reason seems to be that RME total mix forget if it's using ADAT or Spdif as and digital out. I just switch it around and the noise disapears.

Big band & swing - study suggestions

It is not that, altho that looks really interesting. I got to read that. :) it was called "Orchestration techniques of Duke Ellington" and by Michael S. Brockman

Big band & swing - study suggestions

And quick shortcut to harmonize swing melodies in the old way; Barry Harris method (well it's not his method) & his voicings and using dim/major bebop scales. It gives that instant "old" sound. If you want to write something more contemporary sounding, then this method don't work that well...

    Midi libraries for Jazz drums

Hi, I am open for loops as well. Altho I would prefer midi libraries, but getting quickly decent results is higher on priority list than being able to do small adjustments. Unfortunately I don't have Stylus RMX (is it still being sold?). I've got to check those "Drums on demand" loops. Thank you!

    Waves Silver bundle

My advice would be that you don't buy plugins until you have specific need for that plugin. I assume that most DAW's have more than enough plugins for mixing duties, so untill you know what you are missing, I would stick with the plugins that come with your daw.

    Waves Silver bundle

I think that some of those plugins are outdated, however there are plugins on that bundle that I still use (C1,L1, DeEsser, S1 and MaxxBass). It's hard to say if it's enough or not enough for film scoring. That depends what you have and what you need to make things work for you. I guess only...

    Renaissance&mediaval music theory/arranging

Yeah, I think this avoiding the leading tone goes with the modal music concept rather than tonal.

    Renaissance&mediaval music theory/arranging

Hi, Thank you for your answer. I actually own Fux's book, but I admit that it seems evern more dry than my dry january (which actually ended on 2nd of january). I have somewhat vague understanding how tonal counterpoint works in classical context and bit less vague how to write counterpoint in...

    Favorite Piano Books and Exercises?

This is not specificly for piano, but all instruments. I practise these exercises with guitar and piano (guitar being my main instrument).

    Renaissance&mediaval music theory/arranging

Hello there dear colleaques, I am quite sure that what I am after does not exist, but it doesn't hurt to ask. So I am looking for theory resource (how to guide for dummies) on composing&arranging secular dance/party music in renaissance/mediaval era. I have very little knowledge about how music...

Vir2 Instruments - MOJO 2: Horn Section Now Shipping! $75 Off + Giveaway!

These horns sound great! Bit outside my budget, but will get them at some point. I am currently doing Jazz arranging course at uni and I do quite a lot of arranging mockups. Perhaps with these horns I could do proper tracks from my arranging mockups.

    2nd Monitoring options ?

I use RME Babyface as well with Dynaudio monitors, and then I have Avantone mixcubues (using the adat/spdiff connection to d/a conver and from there to mixcubes) as my second monitors. It's cheap D/A converter, but it's enough for the Avantones.

    Midi libraries for Jazz drums

I appreciate your thoughts, however for my needs programming drums is something that I don't wish to invest my time at the moment. Currently I just need suitable grooves to use as a backing for my band arrangments. When I have mastered other instruments in the big band writing context (I assume...

    Midi libraries for Jazz drums

Hi, Thank you for your suggestion. I don't actually need drum samples (I was perhaps bit unclear with my question), I'm more after good midi performances of jazz drums, because what I find in my Ez drummer jazz library isn't enough/suitable/practical.

Ah, great! Thank you. I'll have to check those when I get home.

    Midi libraries for Jazz drums

Hi guys, girls & those who do not fit into this binary definition of sex. I'm looking for midi libraries for jazz drums. I own Ez drummer & Jazz expansion and I am not very happy with the drum midi's that come with it. I know that I can tweak them or write my own, but that takes loads of time...

How many of you have a job in something else other than music prod?

I work as a video editor / occasional producer / archivist / system specialist for big media company. Not my dream job, but it's way of making living. I am constantly planning to start making some money with music, but I just don't have the time. Outside my work I am studying jazz...

How to make synths, pulses, pads sound more human

Hi, This might be just semantic thing, but when people talk about synths having organic/human feels vs. digital/stifff/steady, in my mind that has to do more with programming the patch, rather than fx you put on top of the synth. So I would spend my time on creating all kinds of micro...

    Waves Puigtec eqp-1a

Yeah, it is taste thing. I don't actually like analog modelled eq:s at all. I prefer clean digital eq:s, that is when I am working ITB.

    Waves Puigtec eqp-1a

Funnily enough, I don't like Puiqtec one bit. It is ok for low end, but after comparing with some other eq's, I don't like what it does to top end. I'm not suggesting that there is anything wrong with it, it is perhaps the unit that it was modelled on had this somewhat darker top end. Aaaand I...

    Hello from Finland

Hello everybody. Glad to join the forum. Just a short introduction about me. My backround is on playing guitar on pop/rock bands for about 15 years on a hobby level. Several years ago I started to get interested about composing music on more in depth level than just three chord pop/rock. I...
