Report: Apple to remove the entire case and screen from 2022 iPhones

I use my iPhone and iPad with an iMac. Sync is the worst. It often takes 20 minutes if I want to push a song to the iPhone or iPad because sync hangs on doing a backup first, even if I did a backup 5 minutes ago. Calendar and Notes sync though are still magically good at this point.

Native Access marks some libs as "DEMO" after system upgrade

I haven’t had this problem in awhile but it’s possible you’ve exceeded your authorizations allowed. You might try contacting one of the companies and see if they need to reset your authorizations (in the past the companies rather than NI had to do this.) I used to have this issue frequently with...

Report: Apple to remove the entire case and screen from 2022 iPhones

My daughter recently bought refurbished just because it still had the headphone jack.

    Spitfire installation problem

You can download it to a basic slow HD and then move it to one of your work drives. I usually download to a back up HD then transfer the library to one of my SSDs. It also cuts down on writes to the SSD.

I voted for Logic but still use Studio One a lot.

    Hans Zimmer Strings update!!

Mostly you set up your ensemble for what the library allows. The library allows a lot so it’s not a major issue. But it does limit the flexibility somewhat.

I hope they get back to you soon! Did you try a different drive by chance? You can download it one place and then move it once it unpacks, at least with the Kontakt libraries.

Spitfire Audio “This is London Calling” - BBC Symphony Orchestra

My mid-2012 15" MacBook Pro i7, 2.7GHz is still the laptop that I use for teaching and almost all my ordinary computer tasks. It's the last of the non-retinas (though it has user upgradeable RAM and SATA internal drive (long since upgraded with an SSD) and the DVD drive). It's still a perfectly...

"Chamber Strings - Performance legato", what happened to the patch?

Likely because these things don’t bother him. He may even consider them part of the charm of the library. I imagine anything that bothers either him or Paul gets fixed sooner rather than later so long as the fix is more or less economical.

"Chamber Strings - Performance legato", what happened to the patch?

I find portamento to be unreliable across all the SF string libraries I have. Some note combinations just seem to have much less of it and so there is no coaxing out a more prominent portamento. In other cases the legato transition seems to have a bit of portamento in it so there’s no not having...

Storing all sample libs on one large SSD?

Which one do you have? Any issues with it unexpectedly disconnecting? That seems to be the main issue I'm seeing in reviews for the TB3 Thunderbay 4 version.

    Spitfire installation problem

I've only had this kind of issue when it turns out I didn't have enough room on the SSD. Given that you said you have 170GB free, I assume you did empty the trash. But that's something simple to check.

JOSHUA BELL VIOLIN by Embertone, good or bad?

You will download the library separately. Embertone will send you a code in an email that, if I remember correctly, you use both for the download and then again with Native Access to validate the library. The library will show up in your Kontakt Player Library browser pane along the left. It...

JOSHUA BELL VIOLIN by Embertone, good or bad?

I'm not sure what you are asking. It runs in the Kontakt Player, so you need to download that from Native Instruments if you don't already have it. You have to download the library and it's best if it lives on an SSD and that SSD is not your system drive. Yes, you will need an account with...

JOSHUA BELL VIOLIN by Embertone, good or bad?

No, it doesn't require a licensing key, but you have to authorize it through Native Access.

    Hans Zimmer Strings update!!

They did an update last year that fixed a lot of the legato issues. I think the legatos were pretty good even before this update. Interested to hear what they did. I am currently working on a project using HZS and wondering if it's safe to update, if they mostly left the existing patches alone...

    Thunderbolt 2 and Thunderbolt 3

I agree with you about the lack of daisy chaining, and thank you so much for pointing this out. I assumed it had the same capability of the previous machine, in part, because I was confused about the extent to which USB-C and TB3 are interchangeable. Then too the manual for it on the BMD site...

    Thunderbolt 2 and Thunderbolt 3

From the comments on various internet fora, it seems the adapter works both ways. (Read the comments and product descriptions on TB3 products on Amazon for instance. This question comes up a lot and the answer is almost always the same: yes, it will work if you use the Apple adapter, but at TB2...

    Thunderbolt 2 and Thunderbolt 3

It is all so confusing because the ad copy uses USB-C and TB3 almost interchangeably. But it’s not clear if the TB2/TB3 adapter works for USB-C. Meanwhile native TB2 has all but disappeared from the market... I’m not sure if that’s because the adapter works really well or if the market for...

    Thunderbolt 2 and Thunderbolt 3

From reading around tonight it seems like the TB2/TB3 converter generally works on TB3 stuff but at TB2 specifications. For docks, drive bays, and so forth. Most of those explicitly say a converter will work with limitations. The problem with the new BMD Multidock is that it doesn't seem to...

    Thunderbolt 2 and Thunderbolt 3

TB2 in general has recently just become very difficult to find, and the confusion between UCB-C and TB3 makes it hard to know what peripherals will work with the older computers, even using the very expensive TB2 to TB3 adapter.

Thanks so much for answering! I'm getting contradictory answers on this. I also posted the query on Amazon and received two diametrically opposed answers from two sellers, one saying BMD confirmed it will work. An answer on the BMD forum only says that you won't have full functionality (which...

    Best Solo Cello?

I have no issue with the library, it seems well designed for what it aims to do, and many have used it to excellent effect. It’s just as @ism points out it’s optimized for certain things and that optimization gets in the way of doing other things.

    Best Solo Cello?

It’s actually pretty remarkable how well the transition works once you get used to how the instrument works, especially in context. These days I rarely think about moving across the transition. You start to feel when the transition will sound natural, though I remember when I first got the...

    Joshua Bell *Essential* ????

The full vibrato on the total performance patch is not good with Time Machine on. But you can save a version of the patch with Time Machine off and that should solve most of that problem. Unless you just don’t like the sound of the progressive vibrato.

    Joshua Bell *Essential* ????

I find the Spitfire first chair violin works very well in context for spot solos in a larger ensemble setting, and I really like its tone. The sound seems to emerge from the ensemble and then recede back into it, and in those contexts I rarely if ever even notice the transition from non-vib to...

Thanks for the tip. Yes, I'm still learning the instrument. I also love the sound of these samples of the soft layer, which is why I was trying to sculpt them! It's good to know that a different setting will give me more control. It also looks like I need to spend some time studying the...

I have both and I really don't think this is true. Not quite. From the manual (full version): Controlled via the modwheel by default, the Vibrato slider is one of the most important elements of the instrument. Yes, I spent yesterday trying to sculpt the lowest dynamic layer in the JB Violin. It was quite resistant to the performance I wanted and would have been a relatively simple matter to coax out of one of the SF violins. I’m still learning the JB so maybe I’m missing something but I suspect the...

Spitfire -- how long to get Aperture? RESOLVED

Considering The Ton bundle by SFA

There is a lot of good stuff in EDNA and with the Ton, the price is certainly right. But it is what it is and if you have any of the Albions the Steam Band stuff gives you a good sense of it. EDNA does allow you to import your own samples though, so there is that potential.

    New Spitfire Strings incoming.

They don't sound at all alike, and not at all the same flavor except that they focus on longs. But Aperture also does shorts, and the SF ostinatum feature allows you to automate rhythmic patterns there.

    New Spitfire Strings incoming.

I would go for OACE before Symphonic Evolutions, personally. Symphonic evolutions feels rather large and the EVOs generally aim at a more intimate feel. Still Symphonic Evolutions are very useful for giving you a wide variety of longs to be used with a larger orchestra. But your pairing it with...
