Tiger The Frog's Alphabetical List of November 2019 Sales

Hi Tiger, another little annnotation: xhun audio is definitely NOT effect but virtual instrument or synth (I am sure somebody would discuss this, the iron axe belongs to virtual instrument, little one is synth and reson heart is just something in between or something else :) )

Thanks @KarlHeinz
I've made the correction.

Wow -- I'd never heard of ResonHeart before. That looks super interesting!

Before you buy anything, I advise you to check out the prices on sites like JRRShop, AudioDeluxe, Plugin Boutique, everyplugin.com, DontCrac[k], etc. The discounts--which usually aren't visible until you put your purchase in the cart--can be substantial, and there are sometimes further discounts with the codes FORUM or GROUP. Companies like Time+Space and Best Service don't always have the lowest prices, but offer loyalty points, which can add up to a bigger discount.

Watching this thread is kind of heartwarming, to see how many developers there are, many boutique ones, alongside with mammoth ones, covering so many instruments, many of them unusual.

:)

Thanks for this thread @TigerTheFrog !!

Any "hardware" sales worth checking into? Especially deals on audio interfaces and mixing headphones.
I had a section for that last year, and it will get filled in as I hear about stuff, but most of that is going to happen closer to BF. Last year the Elgato Stream Deck went on sale for $99--I'm hoping that will happen again. I will also be looking to be posting low prices on SSDs. I welcome any alerts about deals in this area.

In Session Audio's excellent free library FRUIT SHAKE is back until 11/26. It was previously only available for two weeks. You can get it HERE

While some of the shakers in FRUIT SHAKE are also in SHIMMER SHAKE STRIKE, i have found that the ones in FRUIT SHAKE are tastier.

Fruit Shake includes a license for Kontakt Player. I wonder if it qualifies for upgrades to full Kontakt?

Already had SSS, but just picked this up. Thanks for the heads-up. It's rare to see a Kontakt Player library for free. Aren't there fees that the developer has to pay for each license? Very generous of InSession Audio.

The developers do have to pay NI for the license on their freebies.

Kyle Z of In Session Audio is a class act, as are the people at Sonokinetic, Embertone, and Sennheiser, who have done the same thing.

Anyone ever use the Glitchmachines stuff that's on flash sale?

Not to a huge extent, but they can be useful. One thing to bear in mind is that the presets, for the most part, are frickin' horrible unless your ambition is to be a noisecore producer. All of the plugins would benefit from a collection of more subtle presets IMHO.

Quadrant is perhaps the most manageable out of that sound-design bundle in that it's a bit like an Eventide H3000 minus the ability to do micropitch effects (the Pitcher module only operates in semitones, unfortunately). However, if you like the kind of time/pitch-modulated delays the H3000 can do, this is not a bad substitute and comes with a wider selection of modules with the downside that you need more modules (and can run out of slots easily) than a comparable H3000 patch. There is an FM generator in there that you can drive from an envelope follower, which can be handy for making sounds a lot punchier.

However, you do need to be handy with patching something like the H3000 because, as noted above, the presets are horrible. But if you like that sort of thing, Quadrant is worth that bundle price on its own.

Subvert is at face value a distortion unit but you can look at it as a stripped down Dehumaniser for robot/monster voice effects. It can't do the convolution or vocoder thing that Dehumaniser does but the combination of effects are good for evil voices and doing things to percussion loops.

Cryogen would equally benefit from an envelope follower...which it doesn't have. One of the things you notice about the GM plugins is that they are not entirely consistent from a UI standpoint. Cryogen you have to patch much like Quadrant to get anything out of it. Subvert and Convex have fixed flows but a wider selection of LFOs, mixers and envelopes. Cryogen is pretty good at doing broken-down robot sounds (drive the buffer repeater from one or more LFOs so it stutters and slooowwowwwowowwws - though you might often find it easier simply to automate the movements for specific tasks).

Convex is pretty simple but possibly redundant if you have Quadrant because it's easy to wire up something like Convex. And, again, doesn't really do the micropitch-based doubling that a H3000 or Soundtoys Crystalliser does.

The sample manglers are a bit tricky to get your head round. They are very much geared to messing up the sound and can be hard to tame - they tend to be instant IDM and not much else though I think one issue is that I just haven't found their sweet spots yet.

Wow, thanks for the incredibly detailed response!

I don't do a lot of distorting and mangling. And when I do, I think the Sound Toys bundle has me covered.

So this time last year, it appears, @SONUSCORE had already announced their three-stage sale.

Nothing yet this year, though. I wonder if they're waiting because Thanksgiving is later. Anyway, hoping The Orchestra Complete goes on sale....

EDIT: I might have spoken too soon -- there are some bundle sales posted on Tiger's front page now. No The Orchestra yet, though....
