Introducing Hammer and Felt Kontakt library.

From the simplest upright piano, to a more intimate one and with experimental and lush sounds, Hammer & Felt will help you getting ideas as fast as never before.
With a simple yet effective interface, tweak the sounds to suit your composition or bring them to new sound design worlds.
Including room noises, subtle breaths, key noises, tape hiss and much more, this library is full of fragility and personality.

Hammer & Felt comes with three instruments to play with:

1. HAMMER
A classic upright piano recording for general purposes to quickly get ideas out of your head and easily tell your stories.

2. FELT
The same piano but with the celeste pedal engaged which puts a felt layer between the hammers and the strings resulting in a much more fragile and purer.

Carefully recorded in an empty house in the middle of the night, both instruments were captured using a pair of Neumann KM184 microphones placed at ears height for a nice stereo imaging. While Hammer has the microphones placed at the player level, Felt has them as near as possible to the hammers so you can get all the mechanism sounds, imperfections and felt sweetness giving you the feeling of being inside the piano.

They include:
4 dynamic layers for easy playability and keyboard responsiveness
Release triggers and pedal on and off samples for more realism
Long silent room noise sample for adding on top of the composition to get back the authenticity of a real recording.

3. TEXTURE
This instrument includes 24 sound sources to choose from. While some of them are simply Hammer and Felt samples mangled and played thru various machines, others are new recordings of the piano played in less conventional ways for instant mood.
They are organized in three different categories:

- SYNTH
These are synth like sounds created by mangling the piano recordings in various machines such as the Elektron Digitakt and Octatrack, a Thermionic Culture Vulture, vintage microphone preamplifiers, guitar pedals and reverbs like the Strymon Big Sky, OTO Machines BAM or also classic plugins.
From lush pads to more experimental sounds, these are beautiful behind any of your compositions.

- LOOPS & RYTHMS
Here are also the piano recordings but played and sequenced thru various sequencers and machines such as an AKAI MPC3000, Elektron Digitakt and Octatrack, a Tascam Portastudio 414 MK2 tape recorder, stomp-boxes and much more.
With LFO, pitch and/or sample start modulations and more, these resulting complex loops and rhythms will give immediate inspiration.
Just play a chord and let the instrument do the rest for you.

- ALTERNATIVE PLAYINGS
Experimental recordings
by playing the upright piano in less conventional ways such as hitting or tickling the strings or by muted them while pressing the keys.
These are great for more percussive purposes or when needing new and original timbres.

Standard price is 59€ but get it with 30% off until August 2nd.

I would be very happy to talk with you about this project or answer any of your question.

I watched the Simeon Amburgey demo today. He makes most pianos sound good.
Would be interesting to see a picture and model/year of the piano. I didn't see that on the web site. Maybe I missed it.

Sadly, there’s no pictures… When the piano was sampled, I forgot to talk photos.
The piano is no longer at my reach but will try to get info about it from the current owner. For now, I can just tell you that it is a Pleyel.

I liked the Cinematic Piano sound during Simeon's demo. I bought it.
The year the piano was made would be interesting to know.

It looks like I missed the 30% off offer back on the 9th of July, it would have been nice to take advantage of that. It looks and sounds so good, definitely pulls on your heart strings! I don't how I missed this one!?
