Sample Modeling and old VSL solo brass
Toneboosters is merely a reverb. The raw samples sound like this but without reverb.Does anyone own this?
I am keen to know if toneboosters is making a big difference compared to the raw samples.
Are you referring to the VSL solo brass found in Kontakt Factory Full?Sample Modeling and old VSL solo brass
VSL has a VI player collection. It came before the Synchronized versions. They are still quite good, and can be had for a reasonable price. Look at the Vi Single instruments list. https://www.vsl.co.at/en/Products/Product_ListAre you referring to the VSL solo brass found in Kontakt Factory Full?
I checked those out yesterday and some of the patches sound usable as a background layer.
I wasn't sure if anyone still uses those.
Yes, I know about those, but there are even older ones in the Kontakt library. (Basic patches)VSL has a VI player collection. It came before the Synchronized versions. Those are very limited. Sound decent but limited.Yes, I know about those, but there are even older ones in the Kontakt library. (Basic patches)
And an even older generation labelled Legacy.
They're not that limited, if you're willing to tweak them a little with the sips and wips scriptsThose are very limited. Sound decent but limited.
what is sips and whips? There are limited articulations, no legato, no real dynamics. Are you saying you can add those things with a script? I've used the brass before, and sounded good...just don't remember having a lot of options. They're not that limited, if you're willing to tweak them a little with the sips and wips scripts
A forum search will turn up a good number of fun links!what is sips and whips? There are limited articulations, no legato, no real dynamics. Are you saying you can add those things with a script? I've used the brass before, and sounded good...just don't remember having a lot of options.
looking now. ThanksA forum search will turn up a good number of fun links!
Sips and Wips can add legato and vibrato, which I will probably play around with and see how good I can make it sound.what is sips and whips? Seriously, or not? $3 is hard to pass up but makes me suspicious...And always get this one
^ Here endeth the lesson!Century Brass Bundle contains ensembles and solo instruments. With the current 55% discount it will cost $143. If you add some small things to your cart and make sure the “after discount” amount is over $148 you get Legion: 66 Trombones as a freebie (more brass, albeit NOT small haha).
I'd wait for it to go on sale!Seriously, or not? $3 is hard to pass up but makes me suspicious...
I don't know if you remember Big Bob on this forum (RIP), but he was a master Kontakt programmer who either created or had a hand in the creation of a series of scripts designed to give life to older instruments. He created some scripted legato that sounds excellent on the legacy VSL brass. Can it compete with other libraries? Not really. But you could make it work if you tried.what is sips and whips? It sounds really good!Seriously, or not? $3 is hard to pass up but makes me suspicious...
It should. It is indeed very good, but of course this is much like that first free crackrock.Seriously, or not? $3 is hard to pass up but makes me suspicious...
Yep, from 2 Euro for the horn to 750 Euro for JXL Brass, OT puts the 'junkie' in 'Junkie XL!'It should. It is indeed very good, but of course this is much like that first free crackrock.
