The best way to get Kontakt?

I’m trying to figure out what is the best way to get Kontakt.

From I could find out online, it seems NI doesn’t offer sales on Kontakt itself except for up or crossgrades.

If this is really the case, are there paths that offer a better way to get it than simply paying for the thing itself? I can wait for a sale if it’s reasonable to expect it will come sometime during this year.

I'm pretty sure I got Kontakt at 50% off ...
 
The easiest and cheapest way to get a crossgrade price with NI, as mentioned elsewhere in the VI-Control forums, is to sign up with Embertone and download their free Arcane Kontakt instrument.

Once Arcane is registered in Native Access, it qualifies and gives you crossgrade pricing for Full Kontakt 6 in your Native Instruments account.

You just then need to wait for NI’s sale, to buy it at the reduced crossgrade price.

Oh, that’s very good to know. I saw this post about Arcane when doing my research, but didn’t realize the sale and the crossgrade could work together, stupid me.

Is there any probable time of the year when they run good sale prices?
 
I think NI always do a summer sale in addition to Black Friday and Xmas/New Year, but just best to check their site or newsletter regularly. Probably 3 per year, but it could also be when they update or release new products.

You might be able to buy an old kontakt license from someone who later got a redundant kontakt license with the NI komplete bundle.
 
As it seems that many people here have albion one, I point out that it qualifies to crossgrade.
So I just have to wait for sales now...
 
Thank you to those who posted with advice to download and register Embertone Arcane with NI to quality for the crossgrade. The Kontakt 50% off sale started today and runs for about a month. I got it for $124 with the crossgrade plus current discount.

I did the same as you but how do you get the Kontakt crossgrade ?

When you register the library via Native Access it get's added to your NI account. After that the NI website should recognize that you qualify for the crossgrade and should offer you the option while putting Kontakt in the cart.

Just for info, at NI, $124.50 = 124.50€.
Not dramatic ;)
