VSL Easter Special: Up to 40% off Special Editions and Smart Series

What are the real differences btw synch-ized chamber strings and The ones in Syc.SE 2 ?
I read a lot of things by no conclusions.
They have the same velocity layers?
The diferences are related with articulations?

The SYNCHRON-ized Chamber Strings are remastered from the original recordings.
The SYNCHRON-ized Special Edition's Chamber Strings are the same as in the VI SE version, with added IR reverb and the Synchron Player.
The VI and SYNCHRON-ized SEs Chamber Strings are a smaller subset of the Full Library.

I'd like to double down on the parts of the questions from @pcarrilho that aren't visible in existing descriptions (as far as I am aware).

What are those "smaller subset" differences beyond any missing articulations? Articulation gaps can be figured out by comparing the SY-ized SE 2 and 2+ pages with the SY-ized Chamber Strings page, but I'm not finding call-out to any other differences, such as dynamic layers. I looked at both the main product pages and the instrument manuals.

Are we to assume that other than the articulation gaps, they're the same?

My biggest problem with the Special Editions is that I believe the user doesn't have much (any?) control over vibrato. (Please correct me, if I'm wrong.)

I went for the Vienna Smart Orchestra as it seems to me to be very useful for sketching or trying out ideas in just one track. I'm wondering if it's possible to build your own smart orchestra with BBO components. For me the investment was small enough not to bother.

Correct, no control over vibrato (you can add vibrato with a humanization preset, I like the progressive vibrato in the FX folder the most. Make sure to pull up humanization to 100%). But most samples in the Special Editions come with vibrato already included.

Exactly this was the idea. Also the legatos are super optimized for live performances.

How much of Vienna Smart Spheres is based on the raw samples from Smart Orchestra and/or the VSO Expansion Pack, and how much is based on samples from other sources?

Can't say. The sound design team could choose anything from our sample pool.

Would like to take advantage of the current Synchron-ized sale.

Can I use one of my Vienna Vouchers I purchased during the 2020 holiday "4 for 3" sale at a third party vendor's (e.g. Audio Deluxe or Best Service) website? Or are they only usable at the VSL Web Store?

I can't figure out how to apply the Voucher Codes against my purchase. Do I have to contact the 3rd party vendor directly?

Thanks,
Danny V.

Hi Danny, as far as I know these can be only used on our website.

HI Danny,

You can only use Vienna Vouchers at the place you bought them from. However, you cannot use them online.

I bought some from Best Service, and if you want to use your vouchers, email them and tell them what you want to order. In my case, When I purchased something for 340 euros (or whatever it was), they used three of my vouchers and sent me a payment link for the outstanding 40 euros.

I was told you can't use the vouchers anywhere except the company you bought them from.

Michael

Hi Ben,

Didn't know you could do that !

However, can I redeem vouchers purchased elsewhere on your site ? I was told that this is not possible and I have to redeem them from the supplying vendor. Is that correct ?

Yes, this is correct. You have to redeem the vouchers on the suppliers site / sales contact.

I watched some video's on the Smart Orchestra today, and it seems just what this keyboardist needs: a balanced orchestra within one vst, easy switching and playing, seems very inspirational. Brilliant idea. Downloaded the demo today and bought the VSO+expansion 1 a couple minutes ago. These are my first VSL-libraries ever. I remember lusting for them many years back, when reading about them in Sound On Sound...

Great choice, and just in time before the sale ends! :)
