Salutations! Care to critique?

Hello, my artist handle is Zephy Sounds and this is my first post.

I have a bachelors in music but I have only been composing a few years and still consider myself very much a beginner.

I would be happy for any experienced composers to critique some of my work. I am still chasing that "professional sound" in my mixes. I want my stuff to sound more full and lush.
I hope to have some good conversations in future!

I'm aware we live in the times of social media and the span of attention is getting shorter and shorter.

But if you put together a "short" portfolio demo, make the snippets at least enough long that the listener has any chance to get an impression of the track.

Ah, I just want to give an idea of the general sound, I know peoples time is precious. I have close to 60 other songs on my soundcloud that are open for listening. If you are interested I could give you a list of a few that I think are standouts.

You're right assuming that time is precious...
But in order to get a feeling for a texture you need a certain time span.
15-20 seconds per snippet could do the trick.

I guess your selection as it is, probably is fine; just make the track 2'- 2'30'' minutes long.

(let the phrases of the selected track enfold some impact; the brain/ear of the listener needs some time to get an "orientation"; if you have melodic lines, don't interrupt them too early...)

Better?

Yes, i guess this makes it much easier to focus on your arrangements/sound! :)
(i will try to write in detail about my impressions tomorrow)

Ok, had a listen.
I guess there are lots of fields to work on, those i think you should focus on are:
- offset on depth / use of reverb
- Arrangement/orchestration
- Equalisation

One thing that is a problem in all tracks is the fact that all musical layers seem to be (too) brilliant in their frequency range.
I don't know if it's because of some sum processing, but it puts everything in the foreground.
You could try to cut the highs of some elements that aren't supposed to be the most important parts.
(a soft highcut between 7-12 kHz is a good starting point)

For orchestration have a look at imslp.org There are tons of scores there.

And make sure you invest enough time in watching tutorials on different topics.
There is good stuff on youtube, not only for production techniques but also for midi orchestration etc.
