@STRING AUDIO - Is this the next iteration of Alchemy 2? If so what are the major differences? Are these new samples? Is there a discount for Alchemy 2 owners? Thanks

Hello, thanks for your question,
SIGNS is a completely different library from Alchemist 2. All samples are brand new and specifically recorded for SIGNS, also the Engine is completely new.
You can preview it here:

I have to say I am really impressed. Listening to the Youtube demo the 2nd time right now. In the whole 20min Demo there is not one single sound which I dont like. There is so much life in every patch.

I wanted to asked how long the intro price will be, but while writing these lines I've already pressed the buy button so I dont care anymore. Have to wait the download to finish. I am hyped. Will write more later.

Yeah, definitely a secret weapon. Tweakable like no other vi I own. From subtle to heavy and everything in between. If I need soundscapes, string audio is my first choice. Really thinking about getting Omnisphere only for string audio 😏

Sounds good, but a new UI to learn and SA_Ominsphere Libs are so cool ! Yes to Snapshots always !!
Omni has been a challenge here for many years and truly need to stay focused with new 3rd Pty libs when available.

Maybe could be persuaded, but perhaps with a capable Lite/Trial/Demo. $119. seems pricey way to audition.

I would have preferred snapshots. Auditioning a large number of NKI's is slower (at least for me), versus browsing snapshots. Would be a productivity boost if String Audio considered adding snapshots at some point. That said -- another really great product from String Audio!

Why no snapshots this time if I may ask..? 😐

Hello and thanks for your question.
The reason why there are 'Instruments" preset instead of "Snapshots" is very simple: we have deeply programmed every single preset and our intent was to create the same "organic" and "moving" sound you can find in our Omnisphere libraries wherein almost every "Patch" there is a parameter associated to the Mod Wheel. In SIGNS you can experience the same thing, almost all "Instruments - Presets" is pre-programmed with a parameter (or more) associated with the Mod Wheel, and unfortunately due to a Kontakt limitation, you can do that only with .nki instruments, not with Snapshots.
Also according to our tests “Snapshots’ loading time were only slightly faster than .nki Instruments.

Thanks for clarification! Yes, I realized that the modwheel in SIGNS triggers diverse things, not "only" distortion like the previous libraries. Great thing, I really appreciate that! SIGNS is another outstanding instrument. I'm happy you did not give up developing 🙂

Thanks for the clarification -- didn't realize that limitation.

Hello, you probably already know it but in Kontakt, you have the possibility to manage .nki instruments with the "Quickload" page. I personally use it a lot and in my personal opinion is even better than Snapshots because you can organize all your .nki Instruments the way you want and you have access to all of them with a right-click of the mouse.
Please see this video tutorial we made specifically for SIGNS.

Hello to all,
I still had little time to use this powerful tool, and I do not hide (as the owner of 'Dark Matter 2'), that I had a bit of difficulty with the new design which, albeit with the intention of putting all the options in a few pages, it initially appears to be less intuitive.
The sound quality is wonderful and immediately inspiring.
In a few hours, I produced this song using only 'Signs', and I immediately realized that I was very satisfied with this purchase.

I leave open the possibility to make downloads in order to be able to listen more accurately to the sound quality.
Good listening, Sarah.

Thanks, Sarah for your beautiful demo and for sharing it! Yes, SIGNS at a first sight seems more complicated, our suggestion is to spend 5 minutes to read the manual (that is only a few pages). Once you learned the main parameters of one Layer you can start using it without any problem because all 6 Layers are almost the same, the only thing that changes from one Layer to the other are the 2 dedicated FXs. Also please note that SIGNS Engine compared to Dark Matter is a lot more powerful, along with a lot of general improvement, in SIGNS you have 5 dedicated LFO for each Layer (30 simultaneous LFO) against the total 5 you have in Dark Matter.

Congrats on the new library! I've bought everything you make and it's all superb. I suspect that all your libraries are the not so secret - secret weapons of the industry.
I've come to willingly buy your products blindfolded without even listening to a demo because I know it's going to be great. It always is.
I just got Signs and have not had a whole lot of time to play with it yet, but I was also somewhat surprised by the lack of snapshots. I now understand your reasons for doing what you did and it makes sense, but please be aware that from an organizational standpoint, the method you mention above seems a solution on the surface, but unless a bug has been fixed or feature added to Kontakt, those right click customizable directories do not refresh themselves. In other words if you create a custom patch (nki) and save it, it will not appear in the right click menu's folders unless you manually add it. Not a big deal but just heads up.

Keep up the great work!!!
Thank you so much for your wonderful products!

Brian
