I never learn (early adopting). Purchased, Windows installer crashes. :( Service ticket into them. Really want to give the new plugs and features a spin on the current mix. Guess I'll have to get er done with my OLD plugs.

Hi Rob, we've had an email from iZotope about this issue today (it's affecting Windows 10 users only) and have just asked them if they have a rough idea of when the fixed installers will be ready. Will post here when/if we hear from them.

Hey thanks for the update.

This whole $149 "intro offer" upgrade scheme for a few new features on an annual basis is wearing thin. Most people can upgrade their DAW for less than that. I'm feeling like iZotope is the Avid of the plug-in world. Sticking with 8 Advanced.

Yeah, I also find the upgrade pricing applying to versions 5-8 fairly frustrating. Those on version 8 have paid $100 to $150 per incremental upgrade to stay current. Why should the upgrade cost be as high for them as for someone who gets to jump straight from version 5? I've same gripe with the Native Instruments scheme. Feels very greedy and a bit dismissive of the value of loyal users who are choosing to stay current.

iZotope is not the only developer to operate this way. In a way, it's similar to subscription pricing. But it's a little better because, if you stop upgrading every year, you get to keep the last version you paid for.

I suspect the alternatives are (1) subscription pricing or (2) much higher initial prices with free upgrades. We all have our preferences, based on our circumstances, needs and budgets.

It's not remotely the same as a subscription, not even the same ballpark.

I've just a couple months ago bought ozone 8 advanced. I don't think the upgrade to 9 will be worth it to me, so I just won't buy it. I don't see the problem here. If anything, making the update fees lower for the v8 owners than the v7 owners than the v6 owners, that would make it more like a subscription.
From where I'm standing it just looks like their stuff is getting cheaper overall. I originally paid about 80,- for ozone 7 elements. Ozone 8 elements cost me 7 bucks or so, and the update to advanced was heavily discounted too, so I'm not complaining. I assumed it's so cheap because a new version was around the corner but I didn't care because I thought the next one isn't gonna add much that I need anyway.

Ozone is expensive but is a great time saver. Mostly I just look for a preset and adjust the levels. Doesn‘t replace real mastering but in my case it‘s good (enough) for 98% of what I do. Not sure if I need the update though. It‘s a bit like NI Komplete or Omnisphere... you just have to look hard for things you are missing.

I checked it out. Some of the new stuff looks good. But not quite good enough for me to splash out $99 upgrade from Ozone 8 Advanced. If it was $45 then maybe.
I just barely convinced myself to spend $125 upgrade with them, but that was for Nectar3, Vocalsynth, Insight, Melodyne and Neutron. That was a good deal, but $99 for just Ozone upgrade, no.

This is EAXCTLY why I own it.

It's $149 for me?

Psyched that the Music Production Suite 3 now includes Exponential Audio reverb plug-ins Nimbus and R4, that I was looking at buying anyway. For the $249 upgrade fee that’s pretty good!

If you have 8 there’s nothing all that useful for you in 9 unless you do mastering side-work... it has a few things useful for surgical work, so if you’re just mastering your own tracks for libraries etc you’re fine with 8....(Plus the new EQ UI is kind of annoying.)
