How necessary are VSL Full/Extended instruments if you have SE versions?

I’m trying to figure out whether it’s worthwhile to get some individual VI brass and woodwinds when I already have the SE bundle. Assuming I don’t need the articulations past SE+, is it really worth it in terms of sound quality and/or playability?

How big of a deal is the whole tone sampling? I’ve been comparing a few ext libraries (chamber strings and flute 1, specifically) with SE and am finding a few differences, but would like a second opinion. Thanks so much!

If you are happy with the results you get, save your money and get some additional instruments (some solo instruments you miss, or for example SE 5).

Thank you. That's actually exactly what I ended up doing, choosing a handful whose extended articulations were most useful to me. Definitely hearing a difference and enjoying features like fast legato. Thanks again!
