Spitfire harp -- sound stops problem

I too have experienced this issue and I also believe it was (at least for me) the result of using the midi chase function in Logic.

I heard back from Spitfire, who were able to replicate the problem and are now working on a fix.

thanks for the comments everyone.

That's great to hear! I was speaking with Sandy about this a few weeks ago and it's nice to hear a fix is on the way :)

Fingers crossed. I noticed the same thing with the old Dulcimer from LABS. They seem to think they know where the problem is. The question, one assumes, is whether it's possible / economical to fix it.

Okay, I found the original Spitfire ticket on this. Dated July 11th, 2016.

Hi Ben,

I have attached new .nkr and .nkc files to this email address. Using these new files should solve this issue of notes dropping out.

Failing this, in regards to the issue of sustain pedal, please follow this link to see if the fix here solves the issue too -http://syntheticorchestra.com/blog/?18

Kind Regards,

Harnek.

Did this ever get fixed up? Spitfire Harp is available at a very low price due to the sale + wishlist event, and I would hate to miss it were it stabilized.

However, if it's still on the fritz I'd like to avoid throwing away my money.

I tried this ^^ above but can't find the "multiscript button in the Kontakt toolbar" to which the directions on installation allude. I've looked around a bit.

That said, it seems that if I put in some extra pedals here and there and restrike C-2 (the key I have set to the regular key switch on the harp), it also seems to reset the harp while playing back, with no other ill effects.

I think it's talking about this button here.

Indeed. One can only ask, "what if everyone had a player piano instead of Facebook?"

Hi John. Have you tried any of the other Harp libraries that are out? Would like some help choosing a harp library for traditional orchestral scoring. There are quite a bunch of choices to choose from and would like some suggestions how you came to your decision for the right harp library.

Well @reids I can't say I'm nearly as scientific as some are here. I didn't sift through all the options and just liked the Spitfire harp so I finally bought it.

I used the EWQLSO harp for ages (it still works quite well in a mix) and only fairly recently jumped to Spitfire. I keep hearing about chocolate audio and others...

...but here's the thing -- if you have good speakers / headphones, listen for yourself and trust your own taste. In the end, our musical taste, by which I mean our choices of the samples we select, the way we play staccato, the way we use drums, whether or not we use functional (i.e. V-I type) harmony or guitar band chord progressions -- all our choices create an aggregate impression on the listener.

If you're fortunate, what you like will line up with what an audience / director likes, and then you're going to be popular and make some money. But I do think you / we all should honour our own predilections and at least we'll have a shot at making something of which we can be proud.

The worst? -- A pale imitation of someone else's ideas.

Don't ever take my or anyone else's word for what's "good." That's what you decide for yourself. When we are learning we all imitate things, but hopefully over time you'll end up writing something more and more personal.

I just got Chocolate Audio Harp last night...Quite good in orchestral setup. For more exposed solo harp with that "at your face sound", i'll opt for ProjectSAM's Harp or the Cineharp which sounds beautiful. Has that enchanting, angelic vibe.

I'm still exploring Chocolate Audio Harp, especially the gliss mode. I'm still struggling with it. For that kind of ease of use, i think Cineharp kinda beat Chocolate Audio. nice tone and ease of use with pre-recorded gliss.
