Cinematic perc libraries that fit these requirements?

Hey guys, currently I only have the perc in Ark 1, so I'm considering getting a good perc library.
Here is what I would want from it:

- Must be Kontakt Player compatible

- Big sound, but not the super intense processed trailer sound of for example stuff like Damage and Heavyocity's stuff or AI's Cerberus - I just don't like that sound, something big and punchy, but still feeling organic and not totally "trailer music-style over the top punchy intense"

- Not necessary, but cymbals would be nice to have

- Intuitive to use, doesn't need to be super in depth, I much prefer a nice intuitive UI and a sound that is quite good and usable out of the box

Here is what I was thinking could fit most of these points, if not all:
- LABORATORY Audio Strikeforce
- Hans Zimmer Percussion
- Soundiron Apocalypse Percussion Elements

Any recommendations, based on these points?

Strikeforce sounds totally fake. It is the exact thing you were talking about when you said you don't want trailer sounding drums. It's perfect for modern trailers but it's definitely over-the-top.

Ark 3 has really fantastic "in-the-hall" epic and more natural sounding percussion, but the stuff outside the percussion you may not find so useful.

Finally, you could check out Cineperc, which has a whole section of the library dedicated to "epic" percussion but is still very natural sounding. Unfortunately it was just on sale and the sale literally just ended.

I see. I was under the impression that Strikeforce is big, but not so over the top like Damage, etc. I guess sort of like HZ style of percussion. Big but, in a different way from the trailer music style stuff

I wouldn't say it's like Damage. But it's definitely not natural sounding. Most of the sound sources are pretty much unidentifiable, save the snares. And even those are on the borderline of synthetic sounding in many cases.

It's totally got its uses. But it's hybrid through and through.

I do like Saga a lot from what I heard, unfortunately I need the Kontakt Player integration. Is there any chance that your libraries might be licensed w Kontakt Player eventually?

I see...do you know any other alternatives that could fit most of the requirements? I was thinking Action Strikes is another one that could fit what I need. Ark 3 I have no doubt it's great but I just want a purely percussion library I don't need a niche percussive orchestra style of library. Cineperc is out of my budget tbh

Action Strikes fits that bill. But unless you can find it on sale it's still $300, which is pricey. APE definitely does the trick on your budget. Another one to look at is Heavyocity Master Sessions, though they can kind of sound a bit artificial as well depending upon the stuff you're using.

Keep in mind these all go on sale - and sometimes those sales are significant (50% off in some cases). So unless your needs are critical you're better off waiting for events to buy.

Yeah I guess. APE I've listened to the demos again, but I am not that impressed with it, or well its not the sound Im looking for, maybe thats a bit too on the organic side. I remember Master Sessions Ensembles having a similar sound to Damage, that processed typical Heavyocity sound that I wasnt too fond of. Will check it out again. Well, I'll keep searching for now.
 
I think Splash Sound new percussion library might be perfect here, they also offer a freebie which you can try before committing @Cory Pelizzari just made a recent video about it on yT and currently it's on sale for only 49$

I watched Cory's YT review of this library when he first posted it, I'm very tempted to buy it at $49. It sounds very good, has a decent amount of variety.

Unfortunately, not Kontakt Player compatible, which the OP says is a must.

In the end after listening to the demos some more, I was swayed by the sound (and price) of Master Sessions Ensemble Drums and got it. They sound great :)
