Spitfire Chamber Strings 50% off?

And here I am pondering over another $350. to $500. addition …..
You're not alone. I lost the count of strings libraries I own. I saw the sale, went to website, added to cart and thought something is wrong with the price. Then I checked my purchase history. Turns out I got Sable Ensembles long time ago and forgot about it. Long story short I just bought SCS for $290.

I checked it since I already own Sable Ensembles as well and indeed it was 290 euros in stead of 349 euros. Still didn't get it though, but a not too shabby extra discount.

Well, bought it (core version)!
I stopped comparing it to other libraries as I realized that the other string libraries I have (Spitfire Solo Strings, LCO, OACE) all are tailored to go with SCS. It seems to be the missing mothership. Thanks for the discount, Spitfire.

Hmmmmm …… mothership ….. could be single key descriptor pushing me off the wall. :notworthy:
Have eleven miscellaneous SF libs, plus all LABS. Emphasis on SCS compatibility is key reminder. ;)

Heh, heh …… have +$150. preloaded in on-screen calculator for these promo purchase decisions ! :P
If it's a 1TB SSD you are buying, then you should factor in the size of the library as part of the calculation. $150x.312=$46.80, so round up to $50 for headroom...

1TB for sure, as SATA ports begin to be a limitation lately. May soon be 2TB SSD minimum !! :crying:

How is the pro version structured if you buy it all at once? My version is partitioned in the Spitfire App into the base library and an expansion pack, so I can actually download only the base library if I want to.

When buying it all at once it's still two separate downloads. In my case, if I only grabbed the base library I'd likely forget that I owned the expansion until I Really Needed It, and then be faced with an ill timed mega download. Better to take the hit all at once.

not sure, haven't downloaded it yet :). Will probably be not until April I do.

On the fence here (probably till the very last seconds, like last year, when I removed Tundra from my cart just before the sale ended). My first inclination was to compulsively buy SCS, but I got cold feet at the very last step (finalising in PayPal).

How much value would you all say SCS adds if you've already got SSS? I'm but a rank amateur no matter how you look at it, and I don't have any particular predilection for chamber music as such, but I like what I hear, and the idea of layering with SSS is intriguing.

I can’t recommend SCS enough. The detail in the samples is astounding - intimate/non-grandiose string arrangements come so naturally with the delicate sampling. I firmly believe no matter what other string libraries you have, SCS should have a place in everybody’s collection. And of course, it will layer well with SSS. :) win win!

i find SCS much more versatile than SSS, and in some ways it makes sense to think about SSS as an add on to SCS when you want more heft. SCS does give a chamber sound but it also gives bite and agility that is very useful even larger arrangements.

Was thinking of getting the core version because I don’t have much drive space left but since it’s two separate downloads I might aswell get everything now.
I’m really enjoying css and think this would be the perfect strings to layer with them and get a slightly different vibe.

I haven't used SSS much after I got SCS, but SCS has become a main library along with a few others. The legatos are clearly better in SCS, there are more ensembles in SCS if you need them, and most people who know both libraries well (including the Spitfire team) seem to chose SCS over SSS.

SCS sounds more believable/expressive than SSS in my opinion, and layers well with both SSS, with itself, and with and other libraries - like CSS and Berlin Strings. If it weren't for the fact that SCS needs 470 gb disk space when being installed, I would have bought the upgrade from core to pro today. (I need a new SSD for that, and already have 5 drives on my Mac Pro, no empty slots).

SCS is probably the most popular library in it's price range, meaning that buying it for half the price certainly makes sense - if you need it.
