I found the stage mic to be the most interesting and useful of the new mics, so I'd be up to make another comparison between the tree and stage mic, if anybody is interested.

Also, the stereo mixes should be useful to save RAM, but to me they don't seem much different from the single tree or stage mic for example. I'd be curious, if others have different impressions, though.

A standard complaint I hear on this forum is "Oh, that sounds so synthetic." I tend to be amazed by what people think sounds synthetic, but I have to say the long notes in this example sound extremely synthetic to my ears. Your mileage may vary.

SCS without question for me. But I already own the pro version. I think the $150 for additional mics and $120 for L&S is a harder decision tree. That would depend a lot on individual needs.

I think I'm going to go for the gusto and get Pro. Otherwise I'll always be wondering what I was missing. It might not be worth it, but the sale price is too hard to pass up. Plus I have to say the Pro demos sound pretty damn good.
 
Asked this in another thread...got nothing. Is SCS good for Pachebels Canon esque baroque music? Tempted to pull the trigger as I may be needing it for a job

It depends on what you mean by baroque, I guess. The sound is chamber and relatively intimate, or as intimate as anything in Air can sound. I don't think the sound is especially baroque-like. It's a more classically modern sound. Yes, I think you could get ok results on something like Pachelbel's Canon. But ultimately that would depend on what in particular you think has to be captured.

I believe the pro upgrade was once offered at $99. I don't know if they will ever offer that again. I think this is the best offer on SCS core ever.

Thanks. It's the melody lines in that piece that require that 'realistic' feel. The long low notes are fairly easy to capture with most string libraries, but the expressive legato melodies can really show a string library's shortcomings.
 
So far I only have EWHO Diamond everything (acoustic instruments incl. Ra and Gypsy), not interested in another vendor (I like to keep it simple). My one complaint about EW is I wish they also had a chamber strings - massed strings sound terrible to my ears in all contexts.

Thoughts on this library compared to EWHO? The problem is all the demos are slow easy chords (do they compose anything else?) - i.e. the stuff that sounds great. Give me Nielsen 5 and I'll know how it really sounds.
