What's new

Nov 2018: Fluffy Audio's Dominus down to 229!! (60%)

Purchased this on Monday as soon as the sale was announced. Especially at the current BF price, I highly recommend it—it sounds so lovely—even though it's not quite what I expected (the workflow seems to force you to compose to the word much more than I thought it would from having watched the demos).

I'm pretty sure Paulo said the next stage of Dominus will be a paid upgrade, more like a volume 2, than an update. But it will be offered with a good discount for those who bought the original Dominus.

It's not a gamble. I wrote weeks ago another thread. The new session is totally new content and it's not an update for Dominus, but more a sequel that will double the amount of content of the original one. It will be available also as a standalone product, a bundle with D1 and a upgrade for the original one. Price will be along the lines of the first "volume" and there will be a discount for Dominus users.

Paoling:May I ask how long the discount is offered? I don´t know yet whether I have the money. It will show in a week or two.... I waited long for that opportunity and would hate to miss it.

+1. And combining it with Hollywood Choirs is just gorgeous.

Sounds pretty nice and good sale, although I'm not sure I really need another choir library. I already own EW Hollywood choir, EW symphonic choir, and Virharmonic Voices of Prague all of which sound good in their own right as well . Just wondering from others who may have any these libs and Dominus , what Dominus might add that I can't get out of the libs I mentioned?

Nothing, just a different sound which many, including me, find especially appealing.

And depending on with what part of your body you are listening to this "different sound" the difference gets huge.

Hi there! I am considering purchasing Dominus and have a question about the phrase builder. How concerned to I have to be about tempo to use the phrase builder? Is there a certain speed that words cannot be "sung" or phrased?
Thanks!

The phrases aren't really designed to be played fast and a constant stream of sixteenth notes at 72 bpm, for instance, sounds pretty messy. But eighths at that tempo are fine, as are an occasional eighth-two sixteenth pattern or dotted eighth to sixteenth pattern. The engine also doesn't do triplets so you have to change the meter if you want to do that.

Edit to add. Let me know if you'd like to hear a short example and if so of what.

Jbuhler,
Thank you so much for the response. I think I'm gonna go for it and let the chips fall where they may!
This is my first choir purchase but it sounds like it's right up my alley and we'll see if the timing works. I wish I was more literate in theory to know how to interepret a dotted. I work a bit with sixteenths for high hat work and 16th note triplets come up in tom fills and I think I will rarely go into 32nds to make the high hat interesting but I'm confident that this choir will help to add an ethereal (spe?) feel to some of my mixes. ;)

And here I thought Dominus was back down to $229. lol, I'll keep on waiting.

I respect you waiting for the discounted price and I even went and tested a couple of choir-sh sounds in the stable for a current song but *sigh* I can't un-hear the difference...

3/11 currently downloaded. hehe looks like I won't be exploring it tonight!

My apologies to all if I made a misstep. I Googled information on Dominus and came across this thread and an observation in one reply sparked a question that maybe I should have done elsewhere.
All the best!
