must have been someone else.
Has anybody used both Watchmaker and 8Dio's Clocks and can compare them - strengths and limitations of each? (This question might not be allowed in the Commercial Annoucements section but I think it is here.)
In this exact situation, did you make a decision yet?Hmmmm.
While this is probably the biggest deal of the year if not one of ‘em (hello 8DIO Lacrimosa/Cage Brass!), I’m sure I don’t need this as I already have the NI Symphony Series Woodwind Solo & Ensembles Pro & Essential versions.
However even though Symphony Series it has a lot of articulations and I love the interface I’ve always felt it’s never been a very expressive sounding library.
I will say that this super deal has made me revisit Symphony Series and I actually seem to like a lot of things that I’ve overlooked about it which I never really had much love for.
Still I think the room in Sonokinetic WW sounds a lot better to my ears and more flexible to work with as I usually have to crank up the close mics and drop the main stereo mix with Symphony Series as there’s too much room/reverb baked in and not dry enough.
I think the 2 libraries are actually quite similar to some degree but probably overlap too much...and honestly knowing my lack of discipline I probably wouldn't take the time to learn all the under hood key switching/assigning with all the other libraries I already have to spend time with.
I’m actually waiting to see if Spitfire will come to the rescue is a few days. I’ve been wanting their woodwinds more than any others for some time. They usually offer up a pretty good collection or bundle deal if we already own some other libs.
At the rate of frenzied, and unexpected generous discounts from all these developers I'm holding out till the very last minute to decide! In this exact situation, did you make a decision yet?
Each is for 48 hours.BTW do we know when these Sonokinetic deals expire? Is it 24 hours or 48 hours?
Thank God. 24 more hours to agonizeEach is for 48 hours.

checking - ha! that's funny, i'll never find it.
sorry for the OT post.
VSL is doing Special Edition Sale
this may sound silly but I'm thinking one of the biggest differences between NI and this library is the user interface and the way that the articulations are accessed. Not sure which way is better but it may make a noticeable difference. At first blush, I want to say that this library may be a little easier to customize articulations than NI, but I'm not sure.Hmmmm.

Do you have the full NI woodwinds or just essentials? NI has a soloists pack, too, whereas Sonokinetic's is just ensembles, so that's a potential difference. I've been trying to figure out how many dynamic layers the Sonokinetic instruments have. My sense is that it doesn't really reach into ff territory much less louder, but maybe I just missed the demos that illustrate this. I only have the essentials for NI winds (they came with KU11), and haven't done anything but play them a bit, but they also does not seem to have the forced tone of the higher dynamics (in order to maintain consistency of tone I imagine). The ensemble is generally tighter in the NI essential patches as well. As I mentioned above the looseness and tightness of the ensemble is a bit of a taste thing, but the looser ensemble might have worked well with, say, the Arks if the the Sonokinetic ensemble winds just weren't so darned polite!this may sound silly but I'm thinking one of the biggest differences between NI and this library is the user interface and the way that the articulations are accessed.
