What String Libraries for the New-Age Genre?

Omnisphere. There are some gorgeous string sounds in there and then 10,000 plus more inspiring sounds for every genre, including new age.

Thank you for this tip - I had no idea this was a thing so I'll be sure to give this a go with SCS :)
You're welcome, Kony.
Here's an example of SCS layered with itself, using only one Kontakt instance. This isn't done the proper way, with writing individual lines for each of the instruments, but something played in real time (with a few teaks). Dynamics are controlled with a foot pedal (also tweaked), and a setting quite similar to what you see in the pic above.

Thanks Vik - that sounds very good :)

There are certainly more pros than cons associated with having a separate mic level control for each of the three articulations used in the SCS sections. Not only cam you eg choose between 5, 10 or 15 V1s, but you and adjust the balance between them as you wish and thereby define which of the artics that that should be the dominating one + which of the mics of each of the artics that should dominate each of the mics. That option makes SCS, at least to me, more valuable than many other string libraries.

That's extremely useful information - thanks for sharing this as I hadn't considered the section stacking aspect combined with the option to allocate different mic settings.

Just to clarify: what I posted on SoundCloud wasn’t made with individual sections. I made it using the ensemble patch, so what you hear there is more than theee different V1-layers. But even when using only the a violin patch, you can create of course layer con sordino and normales and anything else you want and adjust the levels of each mics for each of the articulations.

Some libraries already come with prerecorded normale/con sord combos, but this solution is a lot more flexible. But when not using the ensemble patch you’ll of course need to deal with the range limitations for each section. You won’t get such a rich sound just by layering violins (and remember thy the other sections are smaller; only three players in each section if I remember right). But it will also sound more like an orchestra and less like its played on a keyboard.
