Junkie XL Is Making a BRASS Library

I just watched this on youtube:

He's making a brass library for himself, but the good news is that it will be available to us too.
We can tell him what we want in the library that the other libraries dont have which is great, imo.
So...
Any idea ???

..please not..that was the first thought..tbh.

You said it frankly, i liked that.
but Why??

just for me personally..of course just my opinion here: There are so many descent epic libraries on the market. What probably does he bring to the table which let me think that this is something I need. According to his choice and style of writing also, so what kind of music he writes I would not expect something which reflects a descent thoughful brass library either than another epic blaring loud library. Don´t get me wrong: I know everybody is entitled to do whatever he feels and still, I am not sure to get in any kind excited about that when a junkie XL does a library. Don´t shoot me guys. just opinions no dogma to believe whatever. Maybe I am wrong and he will do a super library. One point for him: He asks his fanbase. By reading some few comments on YT: "Risers, Downers"..or "Please add true legato and authentic release sounds" or this one makes me shiver too "Maybe some of the rare low brass like contrabass/bass trombone, i also heard from a conductor buddy of mine some dude made a bass french horn!"...I get a headdache by those comments, I think..the people are not even having any descent idea about what brass is about...hopefully he doesn´t take these advices there..because the comments are saddening me quite a bit :D but man..if he wants to do a library, why not..more power to him. As long he has some fun with it and brings for the fanbase some good vibes, thats good.

I understand your trepidation, based on the quotations you put into your post, but I think you'd agree it's a little rough to judge a guy's potential work by what his fans write on some website comment box.

Just because he's famous for big-scale material doesn't mean that's all he is interested in or can do. Think of other composers whose work keeps evolving -- Danny Elfman being "Exhibit A."

Besides, there are moments in almost any score where moving to a large scale is very helpful, even sometimes in "small" cues whose foreground material is played primarily by chamber or even solo instrument sounds. I'm working on one right now, actually -- a mix of chamber strings up front, and HZ strings and CSS and all kinds of sounds floating behind them, like solo actors in front of a set on a large stage.

While I perfectly agree we don't need a cheesy library, I really like the way TH works with sound. So, based on that belief, I am keen to hear what he comes up with.

What a nice egalitarian approach from someone who doesn’t really need to give a crap at all! Such a straightforward approach. Very refreshing. Hopefully he’ll get some worthwhile suggestions to combine with what he’s already planning. He’s a smart guy with good taste in sound, so I look forward to what comes from all this.

And, hey, who doesn’t want an 80 player bass French horn section? I don’t want to hear it. I just wanna SEE it.....

Yes, just ridiculous. If it bothers you, don't download it.
THIS is what is wrong with the internet.
All lot of "strong" opinions but no knowledge to back it up.
Meh.

It seems like Tom stands in a different studio for every video!

Looking forward to hearing what he's got up his sleeve!

I hope it's not another oversized loud headache-maker.
I hope it's exactly that. I hope I get this sound when I just press keys... out of the box. That would maaaaaad!!! :D :D :D

That a part of the Mad Max score is playing in the background gives me hope. ;)

Leave us epic peepz our fun, there are enough (MUCH MUCH more) options for classical brass and also upcoming libraries... Performance Samples (Angry Brass Pro), Strezov will surely also have brass as part of their Afflatus series.

The best thing would be both options, patches that sound more organic/classical and hyped epic patches (ala Mad Max sound).
That could well be what Tom has in mind already...

I know it's not gonna be that supreme 'N' brass library, but i still have high hopes for it. the thing is, when i was watching his mad max drums video on YT and i saw that he had made a specific percussion library for himself, for a moment i wished i had that library with all it's possible pros and cons.
and there is noting wrong with asking for other's opinions, if not all, most of JxL youtube followers are musicians and composers and i'm sure JXL himself can tell the difference between a good idea and bulls#$t plus i'm more curious about his own ideas than his fans.
i guess best we can do now is just waiting to see what he comes up with

There are libraries that can do this already, there's nothing new to sample here, it's an FFF sustain note sample of an over-sized brass section.

What you need to produce this kind of sound is mixing skills, not a new library. But it will probably be that, mixed by JXL himself, so good for you. :)

**produced by JunkieXL. :D

Sure there are libraries that can do that, but only a few and there is always room for even better, larger and more mix ready sound, that's why I hope there will be produced patches for that epic sound by JunkieXL.

I'm not a big fan of the guy's music but I've always respected that despite having every piece of software and hardware gear on the planet, he still manages to get work done and be productive!

I'm sure it will consist of his usual lineup: 12 horns, 3 trumpets, 4 trombones, 4 bass trombones, 1 contrabass trombone and 1 tuba.
