Thinking of buying this SA library - who's bought it and what are your thoughts?

Easy to use?

Worth the price?

I really do wish that sample companies would let you try the instrument before buying....

You wouldn't buy a real instrument without trying it first - I think the same philosophy should be applied somehow here....

There are a few walkthroughs available on their website. But to be honest, I don't think it's worth it. The choir library market is completely saturated, and Spitfire left it too late, and it offers too little. The evolution patches are nice, but really it's overpriced, even with the discount.

To be honest, Orchestral Tool's Time Macro is much better, and actually comes with a full orchestra.
 
IMHO, a resounding yes! To have access to the sound of some of the best singers in England, conducted and arranged by Eric Whitacre, recorded at Air Studios is quite a bargain at $450 (currently). It’s also massive! There is so much content here, especially between the two plugins. It will literally take me years to make use of it all!

Also, I believe that nothing else sounds quite like it. I love OT and use their choir samples quite a bit but I do not believe EWC and OT’s offerings are comparable. They are different products, aimed at different solutions. IMHO, of course.

Honestly, I’m completely blown away by this library and highly recommend it to anyone who is interested using choir in their compositions.

Yeah... I attempted to mock up a Whittacre piece with Time Macro, and as stunningly beautiful as those sustains in the choir patch are ... it just didn’t end well.

I do agree though that there’s a conceptual connection between the two however, which I was on about in this post...

Anyone who thinks the choir market is saturated doesn't understand the choir.
 
Dominus has been discussed very positively in other 'Choral' Threads I follow prior to adding first 'full choir' lib.
Tough to add right now with BlkFri so close .... current price is $379. and past promos ~$260 have been mentioned (no confirmation).
I am complete novice with choirs, but thinking I could get much mileage from Genesis …. even though Childrens' Choir.
 
There’s many recent great choirs libraries. I’m interested in many of them, but I have a hard time to make up my mind. Tough decisions!...
 
I didn't say there was a choir library that can do everything you need. I said that the market is completely saturated.

8Dio has dominated the market with their phrase libraries, Strezov Sampling has about 4 main choir libraries, Orchestral Tools has the Arks and Time Macro, the Symphobia series also has choir patches, Vir2 has Aeris, and Fluffy Audio has Dominus. There are others out there, but none really compete with the aforementioned.

There is literally nothing left for developers to add to the market. Even 8Dio's Silka was stretching it a little thin.

Spitfire's did not blow my pants of at all, and I usually always buy there new stuff. Like one user on here said, "$599 for just oohs and ahhs", and that is the most honest comment I've read so far.

We're slowly seeing developers, and I won't say who, just releasing rehashed stuff and slapping a fancy cover on it.

I guarantee the next developer to release a choir library will have nothing new to offer.
 
That's sort of my point though. There's a LOT left for developers to add. There are only (I believe) two libraries with full word building. There are very few with divisi. There are none with both. Just because developers aren't doing anything new doesn't mean that there isn't a ton of ground they have yet to cover.

You're right. Spitfire should really learn from what happened with the String library market. Once there were a certain amount of string libraries everything had been done and noone wanted to buy any more.
 
I bought GENESIS and am yet to explore it properly, it is a wonderful library. I have made a resolution to buy new products on 2 conditions: 1. fully utilise what I have and 2. Trust user demos - unless something that blows me away (which hasn't happened in this case)

Wish I known that before I bought all those string libraries I’ve bought in recent months. :)
