String harmonics?

Cinematic Studio Solo Strings has harmonics. Chris Hein's Solo Strings Complete has both long & short Harmonics [aka: Flageolet]. Spitfire Audio's Sacconi Quartet has both long & short harmonics which is great but I don't really care for that library as "soloists." They recorded them specifically as a quartet so individuality in terms of expression and virtuosity is not really present. There are no libraries that I can recall that have harmonic portamento legato playing styles save a couple that may have a scripted/simulated portamento effect but that would honestly sound terrible. Those are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Best,

C

xsamples have many articulation including harmonics. You might need the extended add-on to get everything you want

Are there solo string libraries with harmonics, or to go even further portamento harmonics?
Samplemodeling solo strings are the only ones I can think of that can play what you're asking for - they can play basically anything, including tremolo portamento harmonics if you wanted. Many string libraries feature harmonics, but don't even have legato sampling for it, much less portamento. So Samplemodeling is your best bet here.

Damn. I quite like Samplemodeling for brass and saxes but I don't like their string sounds.

As far as I'm concerned, they can sound just as good (or only slightly worse) as any other library if you work at it. Plus I never noticed anything fake with the harmonics specifically, but YMMV.

Xsample? Never heard of it. Can't seem to find a website for them but found an articulation list and it only includes natural harmonics. I should have specified artificial harmonics as well.
