What's new

Logic is very slow

It's new and improved! You no longer need to hold down the alt/option key!:faint: This kind of stupidity bowls one over.

I suspect this is in the same category as getting rid of the iPhone headphone jack: companies are under constant pressure to come out with new, improved versions of products they've already nailed.

How else do you explain someone's crazy idea to reverse the scroll direction (by default, at least) a few years ago?

Logic 10.3.2 has serious bugs. I've noticed a bunch of weird behavior. Someone else working on a film had the same issue I'm seeing where video playback breaking after an unknown amount of time...

I just had this on a new project I set up! It simply just freezes the current frame at one point.

Only thing you can do is quit and restart Logic. If you try to add the movie file in again, it will make Logic crash.

Weird thing is this hasn't happened on a project I have worked on for a couple of weeks. Then two days ago, I did a new project to do a final mix+stems, and the very same movie file causes this behaviour. Really annoying indeed, especially if it pops up on more occasions.

I also had one more seriously big bug (that hasn't shown itself for the past few weeks for some reason), but apart from that 10.3.2 has been very solid here, thankfully. Enjoying the new much snappier GUI a lot. I suspect both the movie + the other bug I have seen are related to the rewrite of the GUI rendering, but who knows.

I'm finding if I close the video to the inspector and reopen from there playback starts. See if that works?

Yeah, not really sure why, but the bugs seem to not show up right away... Even the bug I discovered, where bouncing in place multi-out instruments (and instrument auxes), rendered the latency into the bounced audio file went through a few iterations of behavior over here. At first it would happen on playback and bounce, now it only happens on bounce in place.

I also saw an erratic bug where closing Battery's UI, (on the multi-out instruments that weren't playing back in sync at the time), would knock playback back in time. Opening the UI would throw it right back out of sync... To ice the cake if you selected the track stack channel playback would fall out of sync, if you selected the nested instrument channel it would knock it back in sync. (Something like that. This was the hardest one to reproduce in a step by step order. Still trying to nail down the exact steps...) Annoying for sure though.

That's a nasty one, and not simply an annoyance in my view. That's a track writing no-go. The fact that some of these bugs could slip by unnoticed makes me very cautious about updates. I know the Logic team has been quick to fix a lot of issues lately so I'll keep my fingers crossed.
