| Analogue Drums - has anyone tried these...? |

I discovered this link yesterday:
http://www.analoguedrums.com/
Surprisingly good sounds, lots of detail, very small price.
Has anyone else tried these yet? |

David,
Yes, I have these. Very good.
Listened to in isolation, one might not immediately hear what makes these so special, but as soon as you use them in a full arrangement (or mix), the strangest thing happens: a really good sound - punchy, detailed and infectious - without any special effort required. Quite extraordinary.
Maybe, just maybe, the hihats are a wee bit underrecorded, in the sense that I wish there were a bit more articulations (but then I'm used to Mixosaurus' extravagant luxuries, which might explain a lot), but other than that: thumbs up all the way.

That's the most compelling basis for an endorsement I've seen in a while. Thanks! |

Thanks for confirming my suspicions
Just listening to the demos, I was extremely impressed.
I'm buying them all today.
Bang for Buck (pardon the pun...) these would have to be a winner! |

They are certainly very cheap, but man that name is misleading. I thought this was samples from Linndrum, TR-909 etc. |

Piet, is the sound of the demos what you get out of the box? I'm not quite sure about it. |

Well, this library has "analogue drums" produced from synths. It's done by Ian Boddy who is pretty huge when it comes to sound design. You would have thought he knew what he was talking about.
http://www.timespace.com/product/DRUM-110/6/drumalogue/drumalogue_%28download%29 .html
I've just never heard of instruments as analogue other than synths and drum machines. Analogue pianos and guitars just sounds so wrong. |

I paid for and downloaded all products yesterday, no problems at all.
The download links came through immediately, and the server was pretty quick!
All in all 2.5GB (unpacked) of great samples for a tad under USD $65.00 - extremely good value.
After playing with these kits and extra snares last night I have to say that these are among the best drum samples I have ever used. There is plenty of detail and the sounds are fantastic - this library is going to get a lot of use...
For those who are a little confused by the title "Analogue Drums" - this name reflects the fact that the sounds were first recorded to Analogue Tape before being digitized into wav files.
@ R.Soul - the LinnDrum was in fact digital, not analogue, and the TR-909 was a hybrid (analog "drum" sounds with digital cymbals & hihats) |

Nope! Still there (including the free kit...)

And the kits do sound just as good as the demos (if not better...) out of the box |

Still looking for somebody besides David that received a download link. I would like to assume that they are flooded with buyers, and their website couldn't handle the traffic, or........... |

Very strange - I'm on the AnalogueDrums site right now, and all links work perfectly.
Maybe I am the only one who possesses these magic powers...
Seriously, I have logged on to AnalogueDrums user forum, and suggested to Dylan that he makes a statement on VI-Control as he may be losing potential customers.
I believe that the site is hosted in New Zealand which would explain why I have never had a problem accessing it from Australia. My guess is that the problems that some people are experiencing are related to where they are located in the wide world, and are probably broader based internet problems rather than ones unique to this site. The site is most definitely NOT down, and all links ARE working (in Australia anyway..)
@ Jon Wayne - I notice that you've joined the AnalogueDrums forum too. I've just PM'd Dylan and Mike who are the forum administrators and asked them to PM me regarding the plethora of problems being experienced by others. It almost makes me wish that I hadn't been so enthusiastic about these products... |

I recently reported the problems that people are having with the AnalogueDrums website www.analoguedrums.com to the site administrators, and I have just received a PM from them confirming that the problems have all been fixed:
Quote: Thanks for the heads up Dave, we've just restored the site and will get the word out. I've also made contact with recent customers to ensure that all purchases can be redeemed.
Regards,
Dylan Lee
Just thought I'd let you all know... |

damn, those are SERIOUSLY great sounding acoustic drums. The loops samples are killin too. Gotta listen more and get some. I don't understand the Battery mapping though, not standard midi, but great kits. |

Try this:
http://www.jefflaity.com/scores/Big_Mono_jl.nki.zip
My first Kontakt edit. The sample folder has to be in the same folder as this file.
I put the keys in GM standard and panned the drums to stereo (call me old-fashioned). Player perspective, though. If you want audience perspective then you're on your own. |

Hey guys,
Thanks for all the kind words about Analogue Drums, glad to see people enjoying them.
Just a little back story on how we ended up calling Analogue Drums.. Analogue Drums.
We actually recorded this sample library about 5ish years ago at which time (as far as we knew) there weren't any multi-velocity sampled drum libraries that had initially been recorded to tape. Back then we were using the original drumkit from hell in our studio and felt it sounded a bit hard and sterile so we decided to record our own.
So the "Analogue" bit refers to tape which we felt would be a good point of difference marketing wise. I know in some sense it's a misnomer but hey we aren't marketing professionals we're musicians and engineers
Anyway glad to see our samples getting put to good use.
Also apologies for the website issues of late.
Cheers,
Mike. |

Hi Mike,
I see you're in Australia too, I kind of assumed that you were in NZ because of where the drums were recorded...

I thought all kiwis in Australia (about 10% of the total New Zealand population) were based in Bondi (Sydney) |
