    Variety John Williams Interview

Saw him at the Hollywood bowl in 2022. I was happy in that context but I really wanted to see him at a concert in Pittsburg because I wanted to hear some non-film filmworks. But that concert got canceled.

NYT on the state of filmed entertainment

Her being excited has to do with Timothy Chalmet lol. Well, every generation has a heartthrob. And heaven help me if I pronounce his name wrong lol. But both my girls liked Zendaya on Disney. They're both teenagers and like seeing smart, young, (and snarky) female characters. Also, I think...

NYT on the state of filmed entertainment

Ok Ok I got the courage to read it. It's more encouraging than the deadline articles in the last few days. I'm trusting God through this slowdown. Crap it's been longer than COVID for my gigs. But I'm hopeful as I see colleagues slowly go back to work. Regarding the article, I agree with...

How do you discover new music these days?

https://www.music-map.com/ I cannot remember where I discovered this, but I use it at least once a month. Music Map is like a spiderweb. I'll usually google one or two names in a direction. If I like what I hear, I'll keep looking in that map's direction. I've found it fairly spot-on for my...

DAW + notation software or just notation software for music that is not performed live?

Oh just joking. I perceived you to be a big advocate for StaffPad. You were making big band arrangements if I recall in an old StaffPad thread? Anyhoo, Yeah if you do ever make a video of your process in Dorico, I'd be interested.

What if AI replaced the Filmmaker?

Hmmmmm I say AI is far off for narrative stuff. I've done enough production gigs to know that a computer isn't going to replace a key grip or seamstress. . . yet. Now an animated feature . . . that's different and it's been happening with 3D modeling, rendering, and VFX. I think in some ways...

Studios Plan To Let Writers Go Broke Before Resuming Talks

Well, my recording gig is shut down, AND now this. When I booked this Sony/Netflix gig back in March, I was told there will be a three-week hiatus. I've rarely had breaks on studio projects and usually a planned hiatus is short - less than five days or more when it's around a major holiday...

    Composing Courses for Alternative Styles?
