A New Dawn - Cinematic Theme/Soundtrack

Originally written for piano, using very simple harmony, I decided to compose a cinematic soundtrack, with a grand string ensemble using 8Dio Adagio amongst other libraries.

The orchestra (VST, of course) consists of:

* 2 Violin-ensembles
* 2 Viola-ensembles
* 2 Cello-ensembles
* 1 Bass-ensemble
* 1 Flute & Oboe.
* 1 Piano.

I thought about making a brass-section but I decided not to, as I haven't quite getting used to writing for horns and I can't make them sound anywhere realistic enough.

The strings could be better, but unfortunately I have to work with the 8dio string library, although I'm not entirely satisfied with the transitions of the legato patches. Other libraries are way too expensive.

I did my best though, to make it sound as less midi as possible, also by either playing the instruments myself on the keyboard, or humanizing it manually.

Let me know if this humanization works for you.

sounds beautiful, quite enjoyee! I would be tempted to put some flute flourishes around 1:40 ish, but that's just me :)

Which instruments did you use for the flute & oboe?

I enjoyed this - thanks for sharing :)

I thought the piano was a bit too up front in the mix - what library did you use for piano?

I used a combination of 1969 Piano from 8Dio and Piano in 162 from Ivy Audio.
I did put it up-front in the mix, to better hear it.

Some good ideas, melodic content. The humanisation works for me.

I did find that bass writing could be more ‘disciplined’, with more root-emphasis. Also, the intro is a little hesitant, like no one wants to take centre stage; perhaps the drones are too loud in the mix?

Thanks for the feedback. What do you mean with bass having more root-emphasis?
