Midi File With Everything On First Beat

I'm sure I've read about this issue somewhere but I can't find it.

I received some midi files and whenever I try to open them in Nuendo or Finale, all of the notes end up on the first beat of the project with a tiny duration and then the rest of the project is empty. Anyone experience this before? I assume it's an issue with how the files were exported but I'm not sure what could cause this. It's like there's no rhythmic information in the file, just the notes so it just makes one giant chord at the beginning.

I think it was DP but I'm not entirely sure. I don't know if when I came across someone else posting about this issue it was on here or on some other forum. If I'm not mistaken, I think they were having this issue either with DP or Logic.

No, I can't share anything about this project but since it happens in both Nuendo and Finale, the issue isn't with the program. Perhaps DP could read it properly if it was the one that created it. Since I don't know what caused it to be like this, I also can't just create another file to share as an example.

Crack it open and look at the header text. How big is the file? Is it a misnamed XML? Is this a workflow you have used successfully before with this client? One file only or multiple?

I've tried to open it with Visual Studio using various ways but can't get it to work. If I open it with Notepad it's complete gibberish (as is a "normal" midi file). I've edited wav file headers and all of that before but this is complete gibberish.

This is the first time I'm working with this client and there are 2 midi files both of which are like this. There is a third midi file that was sent to me but that one is actually one I created myself a few months ago which I don't think got altered and opens fine.

One file is 332KB and the other is 266KB. My file (which probably has a similar orchestration and writing density) is 115KB.
