Out of these models, would all of them be sufficient for streaming sample libraries? I'm so new to the ssd game, thanks for the advice!

Hi synthpunk,

not sure about the Crucial MX-500, but I own a Crucial MX-100 (old model) and according to DriveDX, the "lifetime left indicator" seems to go down faster than on my Samsung EVOs, despite there is much more written to the Samsungs than to the Crucial. Personally, I would go for the Samsung EV 850 or 860.

Cheers
Tom

P.S.: Since SSDs are wearing out, I recommend an application like DriveDX, which shows the health status of and SSD so that you can react quicker to any wear or dying of the disk. (no, I am not affiliated with the vendor ;)

P.S.2: Speed tests can vary even with the same SSDs, because e.g. the older Mac Pro towers can either use SATA2 (slow even with SSDs) or run an SSD attached to a PCIe card. This way, speed depends on which PCIe adapter you use. I also had a mate who was investing into NVME disks (they look like RAM chips) and found them to outperform everything else in his tower.

My SSD's are not wearing out in any way. Lets be careful not spread any un-affiliated misinformation.

If you think that all is good, then so may it be ... however, you should probably consider reading technical journals on this issue before talking about "misinformation" towards somebody who just wants to help you with your request.

Maybe you consider a manufacturer such as DELL being a more reliable than me:

Cheers.

I'm gonna go with DJs. :D

But in all honesty, lpuser's post wasn't out of line and nothing he said was misinformation. You're a bit quick to overreact, eh? :)
