Hello,

https://scoreclub.net/course/orchestrating-the-line-ii/ (Orchestrating the Line 2) has just gone live.

Orchestrating the Line 2 covers the building blocks of orchestral accompaniment writing, breaking them down in individual parts, through in-depth lessons that look at why and how to use those building blocks and how to place them in the orchestral layers.

Please make sure you https://scoreclub.net/course/orchestrating-the-line-ii/ (read the course description) as this is not a standard orchestration course dealing with ranges and such. And also please download the https://scoreclub.net/course/orchestrating-the-line-ii/ (comprehensive Table of Contents.)

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Introductory sale price will be valid until September 1st.

All the best,

Alain

I don't yet have OTL 1, and 2 is now more inexpensive because of the intro price. What would be really insanely awesome is a special on a bundle that includes both!

Congratulation Alain for this new course release. I had a look at the TOC and found it very impressive the amount of info and techniques covered...

Cheers, Maxxxxxxxxx

For anyone on the fence, just want to say that I've recently bought in to the OTL universe, and IMHO it is really, really good, and Alain's style of teaching is absolutely first rate. It not only meets the hopes I had for OTL, but exceeds them.

It's perfect for me at least, because its launch point begins pretty much exactly where my musical knowledge level begins to end. Since I am fairly well-grounded in entry-level music theory, I certainly didn't need or want to pay for lessons in keys, triads, scales, intervals, chords, inversions, staffs-&-clefs etc. On the other hand, when it comes to taking a musical idea and actually fleshing it out over the whole of an orchestra, I'm pretty clueless...

...IOW I currently suck at orchestration, simple like that. And this is where the OTL series steps in, providing a detailed, logically progressive nuts-&-bolts approach to learning how to really do this. IMHO the courses are brilliant in two ways: 1) There are numerous, clearly presented broad-brush concepts to ponder, ways of thinking about how to flexibly analyze and approach things (as presented with the flow chart scheme), and 2) there are highly detailed examples and exercises to perform for learning specific, well-defined skills, skills that can be learned in doable bite-sized chunks.

I confess that I am pretty much just "binge watching" so far, much as one might watch a TV serial drama or something, and I fully realize that this is exactly the wrong way to do it, that it ignores Alain's recurring mantra of "apply, apply, apply!" But I am taking notes, and feel that I'm benefiting from getting a panoramic view. When finished, I will return to the beginning and go through the course material much more slowly, and actually perform each exercise as it is given. Otherwise it will have been a waste of both time and money. As Alain clearly stresses in the course, there are no shortcuts for actually putting in the work.

I already bought it and finished the course. I'm going to start from the beginning one more time and spend more time on each chapter doing practice. Thanks for the great course Alain.

I just wish if there's better way to ask you when some questions come up. I can understand there can be so many questions but just one man to answer but these question boards in each courses is not working very well. Not that I had a questions that I cannot live with unless there's an answer but last time I asked something was more than a month ago in one of your counterpoint course.

Anyway, I'm really enjoying the course and it really has given me some insight and new ideas. The course is amazing. Thanks for all the hard works Alain.

You are right about that. The forum is something to be improved on, to get more interaction between students was my goal. It is part of the growing pains for the site. I am putting a lot of efforts into the courses themselves (and the films I am scoring), but I do want to improve the site as well, so all comments are welcome!

You can contact me directly either through the ScoreClub email (same as newsletter) or the contact form. The majority of students are doing this and I answer everyone. So just send your questions over!

Anyway, I'm really enjoying the course and it really has given me some insight and new ideas. The course is amazing. Thanks for all the hard works Alain.
That is fantastic to hear! Thank you!
